Furthermore, these membrane modules exhibit low pressure drop, enabling them to maintain long flow paths (up to 48 meters when connected in series) while delivering high filtration efficiency.
Hollow fiber membranes (also known as curtain-type membranes), along with flat membranes, are collectively referred to as "organic membranes." The key material for these membranes is PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride), which currently remains the dominant material in the market. However, a new PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) material has recently entered the market, reportedly offering superior performance compared to PVDF. When used in membrane fabrication, PTFE produces fibers with a more uniform diameter distribution, earning it the nickname "King of Plastics."
A flat membrane is essentially a plate—typically made of ABS—featuring drainage channels on one side, with fabric and PVDF material applied to both surfaces as part of the pulse damper assembly. After being assembled through spot welding, it forms a complete pulse damper unit. There are also two other types of pulse dampers often referred to as "flat membranes": one is the flexible membrane, and the other is the soft-sheet membrane. Currently, standard configurations typically range from 10 to 250 individual components, regardless of the size of the membrane. Theoretically, when the pulse damper deteriorates and its performance declines, the individual membrane segments can be inspected and replaced separately, helping to reduce overall replacement costs.
